U-12 Ladies Win League Title

Carryduff U-12 girls capped a memorable weekend by clinching the Down league title for the third consecutive year with victory at Bryansford on Sunday. This after successfully retaining the Carryduff Tournament trophy on Saturday defeating Castlewellan in the final.

Victory in the final league game at St. Patrick's Park, Newcastle meant that Carryduff went through the season unbeaten dropping just one point at Kilcoo.

An early penalty awarded for a foul on Katie Magorrian was converted by Jessica Foy to give Carryduff a lead that they never surrendered.

Jessica Foy added to her fine Tournament performance by scoring another two goals and three points from play. Aisling O'Hare, Niamh Gorman and Aimee Lavery were as usual strong in the back line restricting Bryansford to just a goal and a point.

Jennifer Henry and Sinead Farquarson worked tirelessly in front of them to win breaking ball and deny Bryansford possession.

Amy Hamill scored a fabulous point from near the sideline and Laura Reid grabbed a goal from close range before the finish to ensure a comfortable win and kick off the ensuing celebrations among players and supporters.

Full credit must go to a dedicated panel of players who trained hard and gave 100% in all their games that has brought them this well deserved success.

Darragh Cross Beat Seniors

The seniors lost their match against Darragh Cross on Friday evening by 2-04 to 0-14.

Despite being disappointed by the defeat, Carryduff can be much happier with their performance which was a marked improvement from the previous week.

Goals from the returning Aidan McGirr and Darren Price on either side of the interval gave Carryduff a slender lead but Darragh Cross' ability to work and point scoring opportunities proved the difference.
