The Club held the Delta Packaging
Carryduff Funday last weekend and it's first Ceili
in the marquee at the pitch later that night. It can
only be described as one of the best community days
in Carryduff for many years. Not only was it a
financial success for the Club but it brought
together all the elements within the Club and the
wider community for a great day of fun and craic.
Thanks must go to Delta Packaging for their generous
sponsorship of the event and to Michael Gilmore of
O2 for the many gifts supplied which all the
children were delighted to receive.
Events like these just don't happen and the Club
owes a debt of gratitude to the Social & Fundraising
Committee for all the work put into organising this
event. Every member of the Executive Committee
helped on the day. Mentors from every section of the
Club were involved as were parents of juvenile
members. It was also great to see so many members of
both the senior mens and ladies teams lending a
hand.
The day was completed by an excellent social
evening with a Ceili which was a great night with
members and friends from 18 and over dancing into
the "wee small hours". Who would have known that
there were so many ceili dancers in the Club! It was
very pleasing to see so many adult members from
every age socialising together.
Great work has been done by many this year in
organising events for the Club - The Equipment
Fundraising Disco, Club Quiz and the Golf Classic to
mention a few but this event got the entire Club
pulling together in a way worthy of special mention.

U12 Ladies Maintain Title Pursuit
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
U-12 Ladies continued their good form with a hard
earned victory over visitors Burren at a sun
drenched Carryduff on Friday evening.
Choosing to play with a strong breeze at their
backs in the first-half the Carryduff girls
dominated the game from the throw-in. However, a
combination of bad luck and poor finishing saw
little return for their efforts.
Jessica Foy saw an early chance cannon off the
post before the same girl opened the scoring with a
well-taken shot to the net. Thereafter Burren
survived an onslaught as Carryduff took advantage of
the wind to send long ball into the full forward
line where Aimee Lavery and Claire Boyd were doing
their best to make up for the absence of the injured
Aine Kerr. Eventually Aimee Lavery got on the end of
a high ball from midfield to send to the net before
firing over a point.
Burren hit back with a point of their own before
scoring a goal from a free which sailed over the
Carryduff defensive wall on the line. Despite this
setback Carryduff kept pressing at the other end and
Aimee Lavery grabbed a second
goal before the break as she latched onto a ball
over the top of the Burren defence.
Half-Time Carryduff 3-01 Burren 1-01
With Burren now playing with the wind in the
second period Aimee Lavery resumed her normal
full-back role as Carryduff geared up to repel a
Burren onslaught.
The visitors quickly rattled over a point before
hitting the net to leave just two points between the
sides. But the Carryduff girls dug deep to withstand
the pressure with the back line of Niamh Gorman,
Aimee Lavery and Aisling O'Hare turning back the
tide of Burren attacks.
Roared on by a vocal home support Carryduff egan
to get a grip once more in midfield. Jessica Foy saw
another effort hit the upright before a composed Amy
Hamill stepped up to put over a superb point. The
same player reeled off two further unanswered points
as at last Carryduff began to put daylight between
themselves and the opposition.
Jessica Foy then waltzed through the Burren
defence to score a superb goal before second -half
sub Katie Magorrian grabbed another goal from close
range moments after coming on.
With Emma Papafio sweeping up any breaking ball
to feed a now rampant forward line Carryduff
began to turn the screw. Eimear McGrady, Siobhan
Cunningham and Sinead Early were causing mayhem in
the Burren defence with their direct running while
Jennifer Henry and Sinead Farquarson closed down
Burren efforts to lift the siege.
Niamh McBride who had an excellent game between
the posts was called on to make one last ditch
clearance before the finish. Siobhan Cunningham
capped a fine display with a point before the final
whistle.
This was a hard fought win against a technically
skilful and well drilled opposition but the
character of the Carryduff shone through when it was
needed.

Senior Suffer Defeat In Saval
The seniors lost on the new pitch at Saval by
1-15 to 0-08 on Friday evening. Playing with the
wind in the first half the Duff men entered the
dressing rooms a point up at 0-07 to 0-06 but a big
second half gale helped give Saval the points.

Minors Too Good For Teconnaught
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This was a very satisfying win for Carryduff
minors away from home. The most pleasing aspect of
the game was the fashion and mannerin which the team
played.
Carryduff got off to a lightening start and never
lost their lead at any stage of the game. There were
a number of instances in the first half of
constructive play that resulted in scores especially
from Connall Early. Cian Slevin, the Carryduff
captain back from injury, led impressively from
midfield and was ably assisted by Connor Beatty who
linked impressively with the forward line.
Neill McGowan was solid in centre half back. All
six backs combined to stop a number of Teconnaught
attacks. The half back line picked up breaking ball
and fed the midfielders with some excellent foot and
fist passes. Declan Doherty finished off an
excellent move involving a number of Carryduff
players by scoring the only goal of the first half.
Marty Murray also got on the scoring sheet with a
well taken point. At half time Carryduff led by 1-05
to 0-03.
In the second half Carryduff went to sleep for a
while and allowed a short Teconnaught comeback.
Impressive for the home team was no 4 Donal McArtan
and no 14 Eamon Bell.
Despite this the Carryduff side gradually forged
ahead with Connall Early knocking over a number of
points. Ben Quinn finished another Carryduff move by
planting the ball in the back of the net and his
score meant that all of the half forward line which
started scored on the night.
Andy Moorhead could have made it three goals but
for a brilliant save by the Teconnaught goalkeeper
Ryan Degans in the dying moments of the game. This
was an overall excellent display by the whole
Carryduff panel.

U12B Girls Get First Win
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
U-12 Ladies collected their first league points
in Section B at home on a sunny Tuesday evening in
perfect playing conditions. In front of an
enthusiastic home support a young Carryduff side
many of whom had played earlier in a primary schools
tournament showed a gritty determination right from
the throw-in.
Midfield duo Laura Reid and Niamh Gorman set the
tone from the start as they battled for every ball
to feed a busy half-forward line of Eimear McGrady,
Sinead Early and Emer Magennis.
Despite going behind to a point from the visitors
Carryduff seized the advantage as Sinead Early was
put through for a well taken goal.
Saval responded with some sustained pressure
during which they struck the bar and post but some
heroic defending by Claire McGinnity, Amy Foy, Emer
Gillespie and keeper Rachel McCabe kept the goal
intact. Saval did manage another point before
Carryduff struck for another goal.
A free-kick awarded for a foul on Sinead Early
saw the same player step up to chip the ball under
the bar to the net. Carryduff girls sensed that
things were going their way and with half-backs Meg
McCann and Shannon Stronge along with team captain
Emma Papafio driving the ball out from defence
another attack saw Emer Magennis fire over the bar.
Half-Time Carryduff 2-01 Saval 0-03
Emma Jones and Rachel Moore came on up front for
second-half as Carryduff fought to maintain their
lead. Saval clawed back another point before
Carryduff hit a third goal through Eimear McGrady to
stretch their advantage once more.
Saval replied with a goal of their own as their
centre back was allowed to run unchallenged before
striking the net from 20m. Anna Jackson and Claire
Boyd joined the action to prevent a Saval comeback
which briefly threatened after a further point and a
goal disallowed for a foul on the keeper.
Sinead Early grabbed a further point to maintain
the gap while Carryduff brought on more subs to gain
valuable match experience. As Saval tried
desperately to get back in the game, it was team
captain Emma Papafio who led by example sweeping up
loose ball and driving the team forward to a well
deserved victory.

which helped keep Carryduff in contention in the
first half with the teams hitting the interval at
