U12s Retain Clonduff Tournament Trophy.

Congratulations to the u12 Hurlers who have won the Clonduff Tournament for the second year in a row. Involving five teams from Carryduff, Newry Shamrocks, Ballela, Ballyvarley and the host Club, the Carryduff men travelled determined to come home with their trophy and put behind them the disappointment of losing the Club's own Tournament.

Wins against Shamrocks, Ballela and Ballyvarley saw Carryduff take on Clonduff in the final. Despite some mind games from the host Club, Carryduff proved much too strong.

A fantastic goal from Seamus McCann, a solid performance from Eoghan Rogers in the back line and with a dominating Michael McGrath in nets, Carryduff won easily by 1-03 to no score.

2425 - The u12 Hurling Squad who retained their Trophy at the Clonduff Tournament.

Errigal Ciaran Visit Carryduff

The u8 & u10 squads welcomed Errigal Ciaran for a return friendly on Sunday in Carryduff. The biggest crowd to watch the teams this season saw four very entertaining and skillful games of football.

Two matches took place at both u8 and u10 levels with Carryduff coming out the victors in 3 out of the 4.

The u10 A put in what was probably their best play of the entire season. In a game of four quarters Carryduff ran out winners by 7-12 to 1-02. All the squad played fantastic football but special mention must go to Michael Keane, who scored 4-06, Ronan Beatty and Nicholas Turkington who also tormented the Tyrone mens' defence.

The u10 B panel was split in two with both sets getting a half hour each in their game. Despite outstanding performances from Matthew McSorley, Paul Lynch and Michael Woods the boys went down by 5-06 to 1-02.

The u8 A squad attracted the biggest crowd of watches as they were involved in the best game of football at this level all year. Thankfully for the crowd it was Carryduff who earned the win by a single point in a 31-30 points thriller.

The u8 B team didn't let themselves down with another first class five point win.

All the players received a medal commerorating their day in Carryduff, presented by Carryduff and Down legend, Dan McCartan and sponsored by Philip Loughran of Lakeside Autos.

A big thank you from the u10 Sub Committee to all the parents of players from coming along and supporting the team, providing the refreshments and helping with the running of the day.

u20s Make It Two From Two

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Carryduff Under 20’s recorded their second successive win in what proved to be a hard hitting contest. Carryduff playing with the wind in the first half, opened the scoring on 3 minutes with a floated point from play from Sean Molloy. They dominated the game and followed up with five further points without reply from Neill McGowan, Conal Doherty, Chris McConville(2) and Conall Early. However this return seemed to be unjust and goals appeared to be elusive. That was until the 28th minute when Tony McMahon fielded and quickly distributed the ball to Conall Early who caught, rounded the defence and slot to the net. Early then showed the hunger that was displayed throughout to catch the resultant kick-out and take his point superbly.

Half-time score Carryduff 1-07 St. Mary’s 0-0

St. Mary’s started the second half with renewed vigour that was to cause some concern for Carryduff. Three points without reply indicated Carryduff may struggle against the wind. Carryduff reply was to regroup and play possession football. The turning point occurred when St. Mary’s lost possession on their 21 metre line and Carryduff broke with speed. Intricate passing resulted in centre half forward McMahon executing a magnificent point from 30 metres out. This epitomised the Carryduff play for the rest of the game. Fast movement and free flowing football combined with gritty determination and a willingness to take the hit, meant that Carryduff would deservedly secure the points. Further points from McConville, Richard Carey(2) and Early was enough to cancel out the remaining scores from St. Mary’s.
