This Saturday night, Páirc Esler in
Newry will provide a clue to just how far the
Down senior team has come on their footballing
journey. But if you want to look into the future
of
Ulster football, then the
newly-named Páirc Aodha Dhuibh in Carryduff
is the place to be.
Saturday day sees the annual U-10 Tournament
organised by Carryduff GAC take place, drawing
future stars of Gaelic football from Down, Tyrone,
Derry and Antrim to the Knockbracken Drive venue.
Last year’s event was a tremendous success,
thanks to the organising abilities of the committee,
the sponsorship from Bank of Ireland, Castlereagh
Borough Council and Lakeside Autos, and not
least the weather which contributed to a wonderful
spectacle as a piper led the teams around the
pitch at Carryduff at the start of the day.
The football that followed was fast, exciting
and competitive right to the end. This year
Páirc Aodha Dhuibh will play host to
eleven U10 teams from as far afield as Aldergrove,
Errigal Ciarán, St.Gall’s and Teconnaught.
Also there, defending their hard-won titles
from last year will be the teams from Watty
Graham’s, Maghera, Bredagh and O’
Donovan Rossa from Belfast .
Why not come along and sample the warm Carryduff
welcome? Throw-in for first match is at 10.30.
