‘Playing for
Life’
Due to
unforeseen circumstances the "Playing for Life"
Fund raiser organised by RGU
Downpatrick has had to be switched to Friday 1st
September from the original date of 18th
August. 'Red Biddy' have been re-engaged for
the function. Tickets £5 from any RGU committee
member or from their club rooms.
The
“Playing for Life” project being undertaken by
Gregory McCartan, and his St Malachy’s GAC team
in Malawi in October will provide sporting
facilities and programmes to combat the spread
of HIV/Aids by delivering education on this
problem via sports activities and educational
programmes. Donations to this worthy cause can
also be made directly to Gregory McCartan by
Cheque only and made payable to Playing for

St Malachy's 27th Men's All-Ireland Invitation
Seven-A-Side senior football competition,
sponsored by O’Neill’s International Sportswear
will be held in Castlewellan Co. Down on
Saturday 2nd September 2006. Members please
make yourselves available to help run this
important Club event. Please contact any
committee member if you are willing to help out.
Congratulations
to our Under 12 Footballers who won the Annual
Kilcoo Tournament. In the semi-final they beat
Kilcoo and in the final they beat Clonduff by 9
points to 8, after extra time. A good
performance by all team members. The hard work
put in at training was rewarded with this win.
Minors Castlewellan Minors played some
very good football in this rather one-sided game
against an under-strength Bryansford team. At
half time Castlewellan led by 4-7 to no score
and in the second half added 1-7 to 1-2 for
Bryansford. Castlewellan team and scores: Neill

U14’s Castlewellan Under 14 football team
showed great character, after their defeat by
Kilcoo in the Championship last weekend, when
they comprehensively beat Downpatrick in the
league on the scoreline of 2-19 to
0-3.Castlewellan team and scores; Thomas Rice,
Paul Ward, Aidan Dornan, Michael McCartan,
Joseph O'Neill, Fiachra Maoloraibhe, Paul

All Ireland Hurling final tickets. The
Club have been allocated 6 tickets for the
forthcoming All Ireland Hurling Final. The
tickets cost £42.50 or 61.50 euro. Any fully
paid-up member looking for a ticket should put
their name on the sheet in the Members' Lounge.
A draw will take place for the tickets in the
Club on Thursday at 9:00pm. Tickets must be
paid for on collection.
