Club Notes for week-ending Saturday December
22nd

Over 55’s Christmas Dinner. The annual
senior citizen’s cross community Christmas
dinner took place in the club rooms on Thursday
13th December 2007.with a total of 140 a four
course Christmas dinner cooked and served
by a staff of 30 volunteers. Club Chairman
Ciaran Crilly welcomed all the guests with
a special word of welcome to local church
leaders from all the main denominations in
the town. In his welcoming speech the Chairman
said that St Malachy’s GAC ran many
functions during the course of every year
but none is held in greater importance to
members than the annual cross community Christmas
dinner. He thanked the host of local volunteers
who give their time to prepare the hall and
serve the guests with a special word of thanks
to Josie Keown and Marco who prepared the
dinner. The Chairman also thanked local councillors
Eamon O’Neill and Willie Clarke and
Chairman of Down District Council Eddie Rea
for being in attendance
Music was provided by the ever young Bertie
Gracie and a number of local singers also
took the opportunity to show off their talents
rounding off another successful annual senior
citizens dinner
Annual Juvenile Awards Night. The U12 boys
and girls had a very enjoyable night out at
the Fun house in Newry on Friday 14th December
to celebrate their annual awards night. More
than sixty boys and girls were in attendance
and the following awards were made. U12 footballer
of the year Aidian Doherty, U12 hurler of
the year Jake Carville, U12 camogie player
Aiofe Keown and the most improved Camogie
player award went to Ciara Gibson. The U12
girl’s footballer of the year award
was won by Paddi Hawkins.

– Brendan Kelly in member’s lounge.
St Stephen’s Night – Country dancing
in Main Hall – Music by Country Breeze.
Saturday 29th Neill Powell in Member’s
