Club Notes for week-ending June 23rd
Congratulations.
Well done to the Down Junior Hurling team and
especially Club members Thomas Jennings and
Eamon Hardy who are members of the team that
lifted the Leinster Shield Cup after their
historic victory at Pairc Esler Newry on Sunday
10th June. Good luck
in
the Nicky Rackard Cup.
Games.
Castlewellan teams got off to a good start last
week with a decisive win by our seconds team on
Monday 11th June in the A.C.Premier
Reserve Div.2.
with Castlewellan
defeating Carryduff on a score line of 3.16 to
1.13. It was a different story however on
Tuesday night in the AC U16 FL when the town
lads were beaten 0.23 to only 1 .02. Our Minor
footballers got off to a good start in their
championship campaign with a 5 point win away to
Ballymartin on Wednesday night and we wish them
well in the next round.
Gaeilge.
Down County Board are offering a small number of
grants for students attending the Gaeltacht this
summer. The final date for application is
Thursday 21st June 2007 and application forms
for Club members families are currently
available from our cultural officer Ciara Ni
Fhlanagain. St Malachy's GAC are also
offering a number of small grants from club
funds to members studying Irish and who wish to
attend the Gaeltachta this summer. Application
for club grant should be made by email or in
writing to Ciara before 30th June 2007.
Vhi Cúl Camps
The Summer Gaelic Coaching Camp in Castlewellan
for 7yrs to 13 year olds will take place on July
30th to August 3rd and as places are limited you
are advised to apply to Club Secretary as soon
as possible.

Final Draw on Saturday 23rd June –
entertainment Gene Fitzpatrick Variety Show. Tck
holders must be fully paid up to qualify for
final draw. Please make payments to Dessie
Devlin or Ciaran Brannigan before Saturday.

families to Mourne Underwater Rescue Team at a
special function in Clubrooms Friday 29 June –
everyone welcome.
Weekly Club Development Lotto
– Jackpot now £3,800. Members and their families
are asked to support the weekly lotto as all
funds raised are used to develop Gaelic playing
facilities in the town.
