Hurling news
In what has become an annual end of season event for the hurlers, the Under 25 hurlers played the over 25 hurlers in a challenge game in St Malachy’s park. A total squad of 33 turned up for the entertaining game. The ‘old’ hurlers of the club showed their skill to beat the young fellas in a hotly contested match in St. Malachy’s Park in Castlewellan on Saturday 15th September ending the match on a scoreline of 5-8 to 0-14. Player of the match was Justy Morgan who scored some brilliant points, Stephen Croskery who collected the old boot trophy on behalf of the old hands, made some fantastic saves in the senior goal. Gary Cairns who is threatening to hang up the boots, made his job that bit easier by keeping the young fellas at bay, by whatever means necessary!! The G.H. proved to all that he is still fit and well. The biggest surprise of the day was John “Jap” Trainor, lining out in goals for the under 25’s, It’s a long time since you were 25 John! After the game, the lads enjoyed a meal and the night was finished of in the clubrooms with “A night at the races”. Overall the day was a runaway success and the hurlers would like to thank everyone who helped make the day the success it was. See club website for photos.
