Castlewellan - Club Notes 28th October 2008

Our senior men claimed the final top four place on Saturday with a great win away to Liatroim on a scoreline of 0-8 to 3-9. Goals from Kieran McCabe, Cahal Crilly and Damien McGrady had the game over as a contest 5 minutes into the 2nd hald and from then on the Town cruised to victory. We now face Mayobridge in the play-offs with the date and venue still to be confirmed. Congratulations to our Scor na nOg team who done the club proud in the East Down Semi-final in Carryduff on Sunday afternoon. We won through in all events in which we competed. Orla McCrickard came first in the solo singing while Mary O'Higgins claimed first spot in the recitation Fiachra Maolcraoibhe coming 2nd.The Novelty Act, which was written by Kathleen O'Higgins and performed by Sarah King, Liam O'Higgins, Mary O'Higgins and Sinead Sweeney also came first in their section whilst the quiz team of Michael Sweent, Michael Cunningham and Fiachra Maolcraoibhe capped off a fine day for the club. A special word of thanks to Ciara Pickering for all the work she put in also. On a disappointing note the lack of support given to our competitors on the day by club members was extremely sad. Although we had possibly the largest number of children taking part we had the least number of supporters in the hall and I would ask all parents and club members to support our young people by cheering them on in the East Down Final. Juvenile coaching on Saturday mornings have finished up for the year now and we would like to thank all who supported and attended there is a childrens Halloween Disco in the Club from 3-5pm on Saturday. F-FactorThe F-Factor returned on Saturday night and the judges proved to be another huge success. The standard of performance was, in most cases, excellent and the entertainment value was first class. Don't miss out when it the next heat takes place in 2 weeks time.
