Darragh Cross Notes - 20th April 2006

By Daniel Murray

Darragh Cross GAC clubnotes:

Darragh Cross 1-11 Ardglass 1-6

Darragh Cross got their season off to a winning start with a workmanlike performance on Easter Monday at home to Ardglass. Darragh were never behind in this game, after getting off to a perfect start when Marty Healy finished well to the bottom corner of the net despite being off balance. Eoin Mageean increased the lead with a point, before Ardglass came back into it with three unanswered points. A Gareth McGovern free left Darragh leading 1-5 to 1-3 at half time. An early point in the second half from Marcus Miskelly increased the lead, but Ardglass were soon back level when a ball across the box was punched to the net. Eoin Mageean and Tom McMahon both scored points in reply, but Ardglass battled hard and were level again following two more points. Paddy Murray and Paul McCargo then exchanged points, but that was to be Ardglass’ last score of the match. Marcus Miskelly, Eoin Mageean and Gary Kennedy all fired over, before two late frees from Miskelly and McGovern sealed a five-point victory for the home side. Best for Darragh were Dermot Timoney, Paddy Murray, Eoin Mageean and Marty Healy.

Darragh Scorers – E Mageean (0-3), M Healy (1-0), M Miskelly (0-3), G McGovern (0-2), T McMahon (0-1), P Murray (0-1), G Kennedy (0-1)
