Darragh Cross Notes - 27th Feb 2006

Darragh Cross GAC notes

The minors lost by a goal to Saul on Sunday, 2-06 to 1-06, after a late  comeback saw the visitors score a goal and three points in the last three minutes of the game. Darragh played some good football, but were undone by a Saul team that never gave up and battled hard all game. Best for Darragh  were James McLarnon and Sean McGouran in defence and Mark McMahon and Steven Ward in attack. Mark McMahon scored 1-3, with the other points coming from Michael Devlin, James McLernon and Marty McClements.

The senior footballers played their second challenge game of the year on  Sunday, going down by a scoreline of 2-5 to 0-7 against Gort na Mona in Belfast. Darragh were always chasing the game, against strong opposition whose league starts in the next few weeks. The points for Darragh were  scored by Tom McMahon (0-2), Eoin Mageean (0-1), Michael McMahon (0-1), Paddy Murray (0-1), Marcus Miskelly (0-1) and Gareth McGovern (0-1).

Training for Senior, reserve and minor footballers, and also for senior hurlers is at St Colmchilles high school tonight at 6.45pm.

The club are holding an open meeting for anyone wanting to raise questions or discuss any topic concerning the club with the committee. It will be held at the clubrooms on Tuesday night (7th March) at 7.30pm.

There will be a texas hold em poker night in the clubrooms on Friday 10th March at 8pm.

It is still not too late to register for the foundation coaching course which will be held in 2 parts starting this Friday at 7pm in the clubrooms, and continuing on Sunday. Anyone interested should contact Michael McGreevy.

Underage football training begins on Friday night 3rd March at 7pm for the U14 and U16 teams.

On Sunday 19th March training begins for the U8, U10 and U12 football teams at the pitch. It will run from 12-1.30pm.

On Friday 24th March there will be a presentation night for last years U12 and U14 football and camogie teams. They will travel to Lisburn leisureplex

for swimming before coming back to the clubrooms for the presentation. A coach will pick up in the square at 6.30pm sharp.
