The Under 16 footballers
Darragh were defeated in the first
round of the championship by a well
equipped Dromara side last week, 5-7
to 1-5. Dromara got off to the perfect
start with a goal in the first
minute, the third game in a row
in which Darragh have conceded a goal
in the opening minutes. Darragh
battled hard with Ciaran Murray
playing well at corner back and Neil
Monaghan, Sean McGouran, James
Ferris and Conleth Morgan also putting
in determined performances. Dromara
had opened up a 2-7 to 0-2 lead by
half time, Neil Monaghan and Steven
Ward getting the Darragh scores.
Darragh got a good start in the second
half with a fine goal from Phil
Murray, followed by a point from
Conleth Morgan. However Dromara came
back into it, and got three clinical
goals near the end. Steven Rice and
Conleth Morgan got late points for
Darragh, who will be looking for an
improved result in the league meeting
with Dromara next week. Darragh
scorers: Phil Murray (1-0), Conleth
Morgan (0-2), Neil Monaghan (0-1),
Steven Rice (0-1), Steven Ward (0-1)
