Another victory for league leaders
Darragh Cross on Saturday against
mid-table Dundrum, with a comfortable
eight point win in what was generally
a
scrappy match mainly due to the
difficult conditions. Darragh never
looked
in
any danger, and got off to a good
start with Tom McMahon hooking over
the
opening point inside the first minute
of play. Padraig Mageean doubled the
lead
with a left footed score minutes later
before a free got Dundrum on the
scoreboard. Hugh Murray fired over to
increase the home side's lead, but
Paul
McCumiskey put one between the sides
again with his first score of the
game. Darragh then took control with
the next four scores unanswered, all
coming from frees as Dundrum were
punished for fouls in dangerous areas.
Gareth McGovern knocked over three
frees, while Marcus Miskelly added
one.
Eoin
Mageean curled over a score in between
two points for the away side to
leave Darragh leading by 0-8 to 0-4 at
half time.
Darragh got the first four scores of
the second half to put the result in
no
doubt. Eoin Mageean angled over
brilliantly from wide on the left,
before
Gareth McGovern continued his recent
scoring form with three points.
Dundrum
replied with a mini-revival, with
three points in quick succession to
leave
a
deficit of five. Darragh got the next
point with another free from
McGovern, before late points from
Marty Healy and Eoin Mageean gave the
Cross another two points in the
Division 3 season. In defence Vincent
Murray
and
Ryan McGreevy had solid performances,
while Eoin Mageean and Gareth
McGovern were also impressive.
