Dundrum Notes 16th August 2006

* The Seniors lost out by 4 points to Carryduff in the 1st Round of the IFC last Thursday in Drumaness. Tom Potter's men won on a scoreline of  0-13 to 1-06. However, the Duns returned to form with a rousing 2-18 to 3-11 win over Mitchels in the League on Monday evening. This leaves the Senior team in  6th position in Division 3.

This Friday night sees Clan na Banna host John McShane's men in a crunch fixture. After this there will not be another League fixture until the 23rd of September.

* This Sunday Dundrum will travel to Bright for their penultimate Reserve League fixture. Players should meet for 5.45pm. Throw-in is at 7pm.

* The U-16's played out a terrific game last week with Bright in Killough. Unfortunately though the talented Lecale men were victors on a 4-12 to 3-04 scoreline. Just as a matter of interest it would be advisable for a number of our Development squad selectors to take a trip down to Killough now and again. Within Bright's Minor and U-16 ranks they have some highly talented indivduals who would definitely be worth a look at.

.The U-16's have a bye next week and after that they have League games to fulfil against Saul and Dromara.

* The U-14's Championship dream was shattered in Saul last Thursday when they fell to Loughinisland in a tight B Semi Final matchup. Next up is a League fixture at home to Ardglass on the 22/8/06.

* The U-12's performed heroically in the recent Castlewellan GFC Edward Toner Memorial Tournament. Unfortunately though they went down to eventual winners Bosco in the Cup Quarter Finals.

* A couple of Dundrum players have recently been involved in Development Squad outings. Eamon King was part of the U-15 squad that went through the Mid Ulster Blitz undefeated after wins over Antrim, Fermanagh and Cavan. Then on Saturday past Declan Kavanagh fielded for the U-17's in the Lennon Memorial Tournament. Incidentally, John McShane is part of the U-15 coaching staff while Colm Morgan is part of the U-17 setup.

* A big farewell goes to Reserve team player James Flanagan who is heading to America for a year tomorrow (Thursday).
