Dundrum Notes 27th March 2005

By Marc Mac Siomoin [marc_mac_siomoin@yahoo.co.uk]

* As the years go by many men and women who have done so much for our club and community pass away. On Friday afternoon Paddy Cunningham Senior departed this lifetime. Paddy was vice-president of Dundrum CLG as well as being a great servant to all over the years.

Paddy was a fine poet and historian and within the next week an article taken from a previous Down Yearbook by James Magennis will be posted on the website.

To all his family and connections the Dun Droma CLG family would like to offer their greatest sympathies.

* Senior training takes place tonight (Wednesday) at 7.30pm sharp. Belfast players should assemble at the Parlour for 6pm. Another session will take place on Friday evening. Players should assemble at the clubrooms for 7.15pm.

This Sunday the Seniors will face St Pauls in Dundrum with a time to be arranged. So far in their pre-season schedule the lads have beaten Aughlisnafin and lost out to Glasdrumman.</ div>

* Commiserations to Dundrum's Red High trio of Paul Rooney, Paul McComiskey and Michael Rooney. The Downpatrick side lost out to La Salle in a tremendous McLarnon Cup Final at Casement Park on Saturday. Michael Rooney was one of the stand out defenders while Paul McComiskey scored four points from play. Paul Rooney was on the bench but he still has another year left at this level.

* The Minor's game with Bredagh was called off on Sunday due to the death of Paddy Cunningham Senior. This Sunday Ardglass will visit Ballykinlar for a 12pm throw-in.

Training continues tonight (Wednesday) at 7.30pm in the Kinlar.

Marc Cunningham played a part for the Down Minors in their Ulster League defeat to Monaghan in Castleblayney on Saturday morning.

* The U-16's will take on Teconnaught in a friendly on Sunday at 5pm in Annacloy. Dundrum players should meet at the changing rooms for 3.45pm while Ballykinlar representatives should be at t heir pitch for 4pm.
