Dundrum GFC Club Notes 23rd April

* The Seniors picked up two wins in the League last week. Last Monday they travelled to St Patrick's Park to take on Saul. Despite not playing to their potential the Duns edged through on a 2-09 to 2-06 scoreline. Then on Friday night past an in-form Bosco team visited Dundrum but the Newry men found the Duns in great form as John McShane's men coasted to a 2-12 to 0-10 victory.

On Monday night the Duns travelled to Drumgath. A full report will be made available next week. Tomorrow night (Thursday) Bredagh will travel to Dundrum in a game which has been brought forward from Friday night. This match will round off a hectic period for the Seniors as they will have faced three games in six days.

* Senior captain Kieran Walsh would like to thank Eddie Harney for his help after he sustained his injury in the game against Saul last week.

* The Reserves tasted defeat again in the League on Sunday evening. They travelled to a very strong Kilcoo III's team who ran the Duns ragged and emerged victors on a 5-14 to 0-12 scoreline. This Sunday the Reserves will host Teconnaught with a 7pm throw-in. Shane Lowey is down to referee.

* The Minors were destroyed by an excellent Dromara/Liatroim combination at Dromara last Wednesday. The home team ran amok and ended up winners on a 6-14 to 0-03 scoreline. Tonight (Wednesday) Drumaness will visit Ballykinlar for a 7.15pm throw-in. Peter Brannigan is to officiate.

This Sunday sees the East Down Minor Feis 7's being held in Ballykinlar with a 12pm start. Naomh Seosamh have been drawn to face Kilclief in Section B.

* Hard luck to John Morgan (Coach) and Declan Kavanagh (Player) who were on the losing Down Minor side who were pipped to the Ulster League title by Derry after extra time in Dungannon on Saturday.

* The U-16's suffered a two point defeat at the hands of Bright in Ballynoe last Tuesday. In what proved to be an excellent game of football, the Bright lads won on a scoreline of 3-08 to 2-09. Last night (Tuesday) the U-16's hosted St Pauls while next Tuesday they will travel to Dromara for a 7.30pm throw-in.

* The U-14's were soundly beaten by St Pauls in their opening League fixture last Thursday by 4-09 to 0-10. The boys have no game tomorrow night (Thursday).

* The U-12's were in Go Games action on Sunday against Ballykinlar at the Old Road Council pitch. The previous day the U-10's ventured to Downpatrick for their first U-10's Blitz of the season. This Sunday the U-12's will travel to Bright for a 12pm throw-in.

* The Youth Committee have organised a trip to Croke Park for all U-14s and younger only on the 28th of April. Anybody interested in helping out on this venture should contact Eamon Hogg.
* Never mind the Grand National that took place on Saturday – the BIG RACE DAY will be on Saturday 12th May at Downpatrick Racecourse when Dundrum GFC will be holding our inaugural Day at the Races. The Committee are hoping that this new venture will become an important and enjoyable annual social event appealing to all members, friends and associates of the club. Cost is £400 for a table of 10 or £40 per head. There is a full racecard of 7 races and the price also includes entrance to the new pavilion, lunch, tipster and band. The day will kick off at 12.30pm and conclude around 7pm. Please contact any member of the committee if you want to sponsor a race, take a table or even just go along yourself to support Dundrum at the Race Day.. There will also be a big draw on the day. Details of this will be made available within the next 2 weeks.
* There will be a short committee meeting tonight (Wednesday) at 7.15pm at the clubrooms.
