Dundrum GFC Club
Notes
* The Club Sports
Day will take
place on Saturday
down at the pitch.
The activities
will begin at
2.30pm and entry
is free with prizes
for all events.
On the day there
will be under
age races, mother
and father races,
a penalty kick
competition, target
golf, bouncy castles,
a bungee run,
an inflatable
slide, face painting,
drive the nail
competition, an
under age football
blitz and much
more. So why not
come along for
an extremely enjoyable
afternoon which
will finish with
a barbecue later
in the evening.
* The U-16's face
their biggest
game of the season
when they take
on hot favourites
Teconnaught in
the East Down
B Championship
Final on Saturday.
The game is scheduled
for a 12pm throw-in
and the venue
is Loughinisland.
The management
and players would
appreciate a large
turnout of support
from the Parish
for the game.
The U-16's reached
the Final last
Saturday when
they defeated
Ardglass on a
3-15 to 1-07 scoreline
in the Semi Final.
* In what was
a very successful
week for the U-16's,
the young lads
also annexed the
East Down B League
at Saul last Tuesday.
In a winner takes
all match up the
determined St
Joseph's combination
defeated their
opponents 2-16
to 3-09. After
the game East
Down Board Chairman
PJ McAlinden presented
St Joseph's captain
Sean O'Rourke
with the Anthony
Fitzsimons Memorial
Shield.
Over the course
of the League
campaign St Josephs
only lost one
game, that coming
in the very first
match of the season
against Bright.
After this the
talented young
guns went on to
do the double
over Dromara,
Darragh Cross/Killyleagh,
Saul, St Johns,
St Pauls and Kilclief
aswell as defeating
Bright the second
time around.
* The Seniors
were disappointedly
defeated by Darragh
Cross on Thursday
night in the IFC
Quarter Final
on a scoreline
of 0-9 to 0-8.
They now aim to
pick themselves
up for the final
League game away
to Ardglass on
Friday night (throw-in
6.30pm) and the
upcoming Promotion
Play Offs. Training
will continue
as usual on Wednesday
(tonight) at 7.30pm
sharp.
* The Donard Players
Group will be
presenting ‘The
Cemetery Club’
in the Parochial
Hall at 8.30pm
on Saturday night,
admission will
be £5.
The play tells
the story of Doris,
Ida and Lucille.
They are three
New York Jewish
widows who meet
regularly to visit
their husband’s
graves. Doris
is dedicated to
the memory of
her husband, Lucille
is an outrageous
flirt and Ida
is beginning to
realise that grief
fades and that
she still has
a life to live.
On one of their
visits to the
cemetery they
meet Sam, a widower
who is ready to
begin a new life,
and suddenly their
relationship changes.
This play takes
a warm and funny
look at the human
condition, the
power of friendship,
and the fact that
humour helps us
through even the
most difficult
times of our lives.
* 26 teams enjoyed
the best day of
the Summer on
Friday at Downpatrick
Golf Club to compete
in this year's
Golf Classic.
In what was a
very competitive
field the following
