Dundrum GFC Club Notes

* Saturday will be a big day for the club with two teams involved in Championship action. At 11am in Loughinisland the St Josephs U-16 team will face competition favourites Ardglass in the Semi Final of the East Down U-16 B Championship Semi Final. The action will then switch to Downpatrick at 5pm when the Seniors face Teconnaught in the 1st Round of the IFC. A big support would be very welcome for both teams.

* The Seniors picked up two vital wins last week over St Pauls and Bright. The victory over the latter has secured a spot in the playoffs for promotion to Division 2. The following is the team and scorers for both games:

Bright 0-07 Dundrum 0-16

Dundrum: C.King, J.McKibben, P.Shields, N.McComiskey, J.McMullan, M.Melville, D.Kavanagh, K.Walsh (0-03, 2F), J.Hurley (0-01), C.McShane, P.McComiskey (0-07, 3F), C.Hogg (0-01), P.Rooney, C.Venney (0-02), M.Coughlan (0-02).

* The Reserves had their game with Ardglass called off on Sunday evening as the Ardglass pitch was unplayable. This match will be re-fixed for a later date. Aswell as this game, matches against St Johns and Carryduff are to be re-scheduled.

* The U-16's maintained their position at the top of Section B of the East Down League after they overcame Kilclief on a 4-14 to 1-16 scoreline. Next Tuesday the team will travel to Darragh Cross to take on the St Mary's amalgamation.
In regards to the Championship game this Saturday all Dundrum players should meet for 9am while Ballykinlar players should meet for 9.15am.

* The Golf Classic takes place on the 24th of August in Downpatrick. Contact Barry Walsh or Paul Byrne for details on sponsorship and tee time allocations.

* The club is holding a Sports Day for young and old alike on Saturday the 1st of September. Details of the event will be made available next week.

* The new speaker system will be officially unveiled during the Saval v Kilclief IFC game on Friday night. The match begins at 7.30pm and some club members are requested to be in attendance to act as stewards.
