Dundrum GFC Club Notes - 11th June 2007

* The Seniors felt agony and ecstasy last week with firstly beating Bredagh and then losing to Saul. This Friday night they will be hoping for a good performance against Bosco in Newry. Throw-in at Jack Mackin Park is 7.15pm and all Dundrum players are to meet for 5.30pm.

Training takes place tonight (Wednesday) at 7.30pm on the pitch. To get started and finished on time all players should be at the changing rooms for 7.15pm.

* Hard luck to Paul McComiskey and the rest of the Down team who were unfortunately put out of the Ulster Championship at the Quarter Final stage on Sunday against Monaghan.

* The Reserves travelled to last year's League winners Liatroim III's on Sunday evening and put in what was undoubtedly their best performance of the season. However, Liatroim's greater shooting ability made all the difference and the Fontenoys ended up winning on a 1-16 to 2-09 scoreline. Best for Dundrum were John Barr, Paul Smyth, Paddy Doran, Mickey Murray and Gerard Graham.

Dundrum team and scorers: D.Campbell, M.McKibbin, B.Walsh, P.Byrne, J.Barr (0-01), M.Murray, R.McKibbin, P.Doran, G.Graham, S.McGrattan (1-03, 3F), K.Byrne (0-01), P.Smyth (0-02), R.Smyth (1-02), P.McGrattan, P.King.  Subs: C.Morgan, D.McGrattan.

This Sunday sees the 1st Round of the Reserve Championship and Dundrum will incidentally host Liatroim at 7pm.

* The Minors fielded for the first time in three games last Wednesday. Unfortunately they ended up on the losing side to Teconnaught with the Annacloy men winning 7-08 to 1-11. Regardless of the result it was very important that the team fielded so well done to all.

There is no match this week so all Minor players should attend Senior training.

* The U-16's won their fifth match in a row with a comprehensive 4-13 to 1-07 win over Darragh Cross/Killyleagh. Overall, this was an encouraging display with Sean Murray, Kieran Carville, Eamon King, Sean O'Rourke and Conor Mason all playing to their potential.

St Josephs team and scorers: E.King, D.Brennan, K.Carville, R.Melville, P.Curry, C.Miskelly (1-00), C.McKee, A.Mageean, S.O'Rourke (0-05), M.Grant, A.Killen, P.Mageean, C.Mason (1-02), B.Cunningham (1-02), R.Smith (0-01). Subs: S.Murray (0-03), S.Mason (1-00), PJ Conlon, D.Smith, A.O'Hare.

Last night (Tuesday) the team faced unbeaten League leaders Saul while next Tuesday they entertain Bright in Dundrum.

* The U-14's remain in third place in the League after defeating Dromara last Thursday in a 4-11 to 3-06 victory. Tomorrow night (Thursday) they take on Teconnaught at 7.30pm with a venue yet to be confirmed.

* The U-12's host Dromara on Sunday at the council pitch in the latest installment of the Go Games Series at 12pm. On Friday both the U-10's and the U-12's got a workout against Ballykinlar before the Senior game.

* Well done to David McComiskey who represented the Down Primary Schools side against their Monaghan counterparts at half time during the Senior game at Pairc Esler on Sunday.

* The CUL Camp forms are now being circulated amongst the juveniles. These camps are a great way for juveniles aged between 7 and 13 years of age to spend a fun week enhancing their skills. The cost is £30 per child, and £25 for every additional child in a family. This price allows the children to receive coaching from some of the county's top coaches and footballers, and also includes a whole kit.. Anyone who has not yet received a form but wishes for their child or children to attend, contact Eamon Hogg ASAP to receive a form.
* By Christmas of this year PRO Mark Fitzsimons wants to complete a revised version of the club's history. At the moment the history is sketchy and has huge gaps in it. Anybody who has memorabilia or snippets of information regarding any aspect of the club covering any period of time can contact me through my email address: marc_mac_siomoin@yahoo.co.uk.
