The
rains
of
the
monsoon
season
in
South
East
Asia
weren't
a
patch
on
the
downpours
that
arrived
in
Dundrum
on
Friday
evening.
What
transpired
in
these
atrocious
conditions
was
a
bitter
war
of
attrition
between
two
teams
hellbent
on
securing
victory.
In
a
disappointing
1st
half
it
was
Teconnaught
who
did
all
the
probing.
At
their
leisure
they
amassed
a
0-05
to
0-00
lead.
Scorer
in
chief
was
the
accurate
Barry
Rogan.
He
glanced
over
three
frees
whilst
adding
one
from
play.
Teconnaught's
other
contributor
was
Ronan
Sweeney.
In
an
unusual
twist
it
was
Dundrum
who
would
get
the
next
five
scores.
With
a
little
more
impetus
to
their
play,
Paul
Rooney
(0-02),
Aaron
Doyle
(0-01),
Cormac
Venney
(0-01)
and
Kieran
Walsh
(0-01)
all
registered
to
leave
it
all
square
at
the
break
after
a
totally
uninspiring
1st
half.
Despite
battling
hard
in
the
2nd
half
Dundrum
seemed
to
be
second
best
for
the
majority
of
it.
Kieran
Walsh
and
Aaron
Doyle
fought
valiantly
at
midfield
while
Marc
Cunningham
did
his
upmost
to
generate
attacks
from
wing
back.
But
in
all
truthfullness,
the
Dundrum
backs
struggled
badly
with
the
conditions
and
their
forwards
couldn't
cope
with
the
pace
of
the
Teconnaught
backs.
GP
Mulholland's
men
looked
the
better
of
the
two
sides
in
the
2nd
half.
Colm
Flanagan,
Paul
Burns
and
Eoin
Flanagan
held
steadfast
in
defence
while
Sammy
Madine
was
a
trojan
around
the
middle.
Up
front
Barry
Rogan
continued
his
rich
vein
of
form
with
yet
another
three
frees
while
Henry
Green
also
had
himself
a
well
taken
score.
During
the
latter
stages
of
the
half
Teconnaught
created
for
themselves
three
goal
chances.
However,
all
three
were
expertly
saved
by
the
tremendous
Colum
King
in
the
Dundrum
goal
and
if
it
weren't
for
him
Teconnaught
could
of won
this
one
by
a
cricket
score.
Dundrum's
only
scorers
in
this
half
were
Kieran
Walsh
and
John
Hurley.
Substitute
John
McKibben
did
have
a
late
chance
to
grab
himself
a
major
but
his
shot
hit
the
side
netting.
It
was
the
ability
of
Teconnaught
to
adapt
to
the
conditions
better
that
surely
won
them
this
game.
Also,
to
have
a
very
reliable
set
peice
taker
such
as
Barry
Rogan
and
to
be
able
to
bring
a
player
of
the
calibre
of
Niall
Mulholland
off
the
bench
shows
the
strength
of
this
classy
side.
Dundrum
will
need
to
learn
how
to
play
in
the
wet
for
future
games
in
such
surroundings
but
in
truth
Teconnaught
were
the
better
side
and
the
Duns
should
have
no
qualms
about
their
defeat.
