Glenn 2-09  Dundrum 2-09

Cormac Venney's late point saved Dundrum's skin in a truly underwhelming game of football at Glenn on Friday night. When the seconds ticking away Venney popped up with fine effort to grab the Duns a share of the spoils.
In extremely windy conditions it was Glenn who took an early lead. A freak goal got them up and running but the excellent Kieran Walsh was quick to equalise for Dundrum. Glenn responded with two well taken scores but Kieran Walsh through a free and John Hurley kept the Duns in contention.
A monster point from Glenn's county representative Colm Murtagh then extended the Sheepsbridge side's lead to three and another on the stroke of twenty two minutes put Glenn comfortably ahead. However, some classy play from Chris Hogg saw the Duns get back in to it and then the sucker punch arrived when John McKibben palmed the ball in to the net after excellent build up play from Martin Coughlan and Cormac Venney. Yet it was Glenn who went in to the half time break with a one point lead after a well worked move saw them secure their fifth point of the night.
The away side began the 2nd half in superb fashion. Johnny McMullan pointed before Kieran Walsh bagged a goal. Glenn hit back with a double before Paul Rooney converted a free. Glenn again replied but two Kieran Walsh frees give the Duns a three point cushion.
With chances going abegging at both ends both teams found it hard to capitalise on the game for long periods. Most of the drama was saved for the last five minutes. In an extremely bizzare incident Dundrum goalkeeper Colm King dropped the ball in to his own net after making a mess of a short kickout. Glenn now held a one point lead but the hard working Venney popped up late on to salvage a draw.
This game was never going to pick up a 'match of the year' nomination but on the whole Dundrum will feel the most disappointed. They ruled the roost for the majority of the contest but it was their backline who at times looked fragile. Glenn have a lot of work to do if they are to climb up the league ladder but something from this game suggests that Dundrum have a lot more to offer.
