GFC Club Notes
* The club is
embarking on a
huge weekend of
football action
this Saturday
and Sunday. On
Saturday the U-16
footballers of
St Joseph's take
on Drumgath in
the Final of the
Down U-16 'B'
Championship.
The game will
be held in Burren
and the throw-in
time is 1pm.
The U-16's have
had a terrific
season to date.
Already they have
captured the East
Down B League
and Championship.
However, Drumgath
will be their
stiffest test
yet but if lady
luck shines down
on the boys on
the day then the
U-16's could be
looking at a historic
treble.
On Sunday the
action switches
to Newcastle at
3pm where the
Seniors will face
Saul in the first
of their Division
3 Promotion Playoff
matches. Saul
have vast experience
in these situations
and have been
present in playoff
situations every
year for the past
four years. This
is new territory
for the Duns but
they will be pulling
out all the stops
to overcome the
former Division
2 side.
It is imperative
that as much support
as possible makes
themselves available
for both these
matches. It would
give such a lift
to both sets of
players if they
had a big crowd
present to cheer
them on.
