Dundrum Club Notes - 12th February 2008

* The Seniors took on Glasdrumman on Sunday in the first of their pre-season friendlies at the Quarter Road. 3 periods of 20 minutes were played with Glasdrumman dominating the first 2. A major reshuffle by the Mourne side in the 3rd period allowed Dundrum to capitalise and eventually the Duns ran out winners by 2 points.
The game was very useful for both sides with Glasdrumman using a total of 41 players while Dundrum tried out 24 of their panel.
Congratulations to 16 year old Conall McKee who scored a goal on his Senior debut and to Shea Curran who played his first game for the club at midfield.
A big thanks goes to Glasdrumman for facilitating this game. Also, the tea and sandwiches afterwards were much appreciated.
* This Sunday Teconnaught will provide the opposition for both the Seniors and Reserves. The Reserve game throw-in will be at 12pm while the Senior game will take place at 2pm. The venue for both games will be Annacloy.
* Good luck to Paul McComiskey for today (Wednesday) and the rest of the Queens University Sigerson team who take on NUIG in the last 16 of the competition.
* Well done to Aaron Doyle and his St Mary's, Belfast, counterparts who have progressed to the Semi Final of the All Ireland Freshers B Football Championship.
* Congratulations to Rory Kavanagh and the St Colman's, Newry, Corn na Og team who are through to the Final of the competition after beating St Patrick's, Dungannon.
* Juvenile training for children from Primary 4 age up is on Friday nights from 6pm to 7.30pm sharp in the Parochial Hall.
* Membership for the coming season is now due for all club members and players at the following rates:
Senior - £25
Juvenile (Single) - £5
Juvenile (Family – 2 or more kids) - £10
These must be paid for insurance purposes and can be given to any manager or committee member.
* The club will hold a Drug and Alcohol Awareness Night on Wednesday 20th February at 7pm in the Parish Centre. Attendance is compulsory for all players from the age of 14 and upwards, and anyone else interested in coming along is more than welcome to do so.
* Work is continuing on the Strength and Conditioning Room every Saturday and the club is appealing for any tradesmen and volunteers who would be willing to help out to get in touch with Ollie Forsythe for details on how they can be of use.
* An order for new club gear will be made in the coming month and to facilitate this there will be a sample display of gear in the mineral bar of the Parochial Hall on Friday 22nd February at 7.15pm. Orders for gear will be taken at this time.
* All of the Senior team wish Cormac Venney the best of luck for when he heads 'Down Under' on Monday for the next few months.
