Notes
Glasdrumman and Tullylish played out a tense draw in their Down Intermediate
Championship meeting at Drumgath. Glasdrumman started the stronger with a point
from a free by Raymond Clarke after two minutes but Tullylish levelled the score
with a point from Eamonn Morgan two minutes later. Raymond Clarke restored the
Glasdrumman lead with his second point, again from a free, but Davy Corbett levelled
the score in the eight minute with a similar score.
Two minutes later
a dangerous high ball dropping in under the Glasdrumman crossbar was parried by
Glasdrumman goalkeeper Ronan McDowell and it fell in the path on the in rushing
Peter Quinn who stuck it in the net to give Tullylish a three point advantage.
Two minutes later their lead was stretched to four when Michael McCartan scored.
Michael McGuiness and Raymond Clarke with points apiece reduced the Tullylish
lead and the half ended with Peter Quinn and Raymond Clarke exchanging points
to leave the halftime score Glasdrumman 0-5 Tullylish 1-4.
Glasdrumman,
playing against a strong breeze, started the half with a point from Shane Feeney
to cut the Tullylish lead to one point. Two minutes later the referee awarded
a penalty to Tullylish. The ball was hit low and hard but Ronan McDowell got down
well to his left to push the ball around the post for a magnificent save. This
was the inspiration that Glasdrumman needed. Raymond Clarke levelled the game
two minutes later but Chris McGovern restored the Tullylish lead with a point
from a free. In the eleventh minute Declan Grant get his fist to a high dropping
ball to punch the ball to the Tullylish net to give Glasdrumman a two point lead
which Raymond Clarke increased to three with his sixth point of the game. Tullylish
dug deep and were rewarded with two points from Chris McGovern and one from Jim
McArdle to leave the game all square yet again.
In the second minute
of time added on, Raymond Magorrian was fouled and from the resultant free Raymond
Clarke hit a tremendous point to give Glasdrumman the advantage yet again. From
the kickout Tullylish worked the ball to the half forward line and were awarded
a free which Chris McGovern converted with practically the last kick of the game
to leave the final score
