For the second
time in four days Glasdrumman faced
a team who had played their football
in Division 1 last year and, having
be soundly beaten by Annaclone on
Friday night, they were in no mood
for a repeat performance against
Loughinisland at the Quarter Road
on Monday night. From the throw
in Glasdrumman went on the attack
and were rewarded by a Cormac Murphy
point from a free in the second
minute followed by two more, from
the same player, from play in the
sixth and eleventh minutes. Indeed
Cormac's accuracy, especially from
long range frees was a feature of
the game and he added a fourth from
a sideline ball in the fourteenth
minute before Gary Gordon pulled
one back for Loughinisland.
Two minutes
later Cormac scored a wonderful
point from fully sixty metres and
this was quickly followed by a point
from Raymond Magorrian to further
extend the Glasdrumman lead before
Gary Gordon got his second point
for Loughinisland. A flurry of activity
in the last four minutes of the
half saw Cormac Murphy add another
two points to his and Glasdrumman's
total before Ryan Stranney and Declan
Grant exchanged points to leave
the half time score Glasdrumman
0-9 Loughinisland 0-3.
Loughinisland
started the second half with a greater
sense of urgency and were rewarded
with two points from Ryan Carvill
before Declan Grant and Mark Valentine
exchanged points in the tenth and
twelfth minutes respectively. Pat
Mallon got his name on the score
sheet with a point for Glasdrumman
in the sixteenth minute. Loughinisland
moved Brendan Ward out to midfield
to try to curb the dominance of
Cormac Murphy and Declan Grant in
this sector and he was rewarded
with a point in the seventeenth
minute.
Glasdrumman's
total domination continued however
with two more points from that man
Murphy and one each from Pat Mallon
and Raymond Clarke before Barry
Savage ended the scoring with a
point for Loughinisland to leave
the final score Glasdrumman 0-15
Loughinisland 0-8.
