Glasdrumman get back to winning ways
ACFL Div 2: Glasdrumman 0-09 Saul 1-05

John Brennan

Friday night’s visitors to the Quarter Road were Saul. This was the first meeting between the teams since Saul’s promotion to Division 2 and it proved to be a tight game despite Glasdrumman fielding a weakened team due to illness and work commitments. The first half proved to be an even affair with Saul leading at half time by 0-4 to 0-3 for Glasdrumman with Glasdrumman’s points coming from two frees for Cormac Murphy and a point from play by Raymond Clarke.

As in their previous game against Tullylish the home side conceded a goal immediately after half time following a mix up in the Glasdrumman defence but they dug deep and showed great character to pull the game back level with a few minutes to go with two points from Cormac Murphy and three from Raymond Clarke with Saul having scored another point.

Glasdrumman were awarded a free about forty metres out on the sideline. Up stepped Cormac Murphy to hit an absolutely superb point to secure the two points for Glasdrumman with a final score of Glasdrumman 0-9 Saul 1-05.

Paul Brennan, Francis O’Neill, Kevin Burns, Shaun Brennan, Brian Burns, Ronan McDowell, Martin O’Neill, Pat Mallon, Cormac Murphy (0-5), Paul McDowell, Sean McDowell, Eugene Smith, Daniel McCartan, Declan Grant, Raymond Clarke (0-4).
