Glasdrumman prove too strong
for Downpatrick.
Downpatrick were the visitors to
the Quarter Road on Sunday in a
game where both teams were eager
to gain points to improve their
position in the league. Glasdrumman
started the stronger and were two
points up after four minutes, both
points coming from the boot of centre
half forward Raymond Magorrian.
Two minutes later Gerard Deegan
opened Downpatrick’s account
but Glasdrumman responded almost
immediately through Raymond Clarke.
In the eleventh minute M McGarrity
pulled another point back for Downpatrick.
In the seventeenth minute Raymond
Magorrian got his third point of
the game followed in the twenty
fifth minute by another point from
Raymond Clarke before Gareth Brown
scored for Downpatrick to leave
the half time score Glasdrumman
0-5 Downpatrick 0-3.
M McGarrity opened the scoring in
the fourth minute of the second
half but Shane Feeney cancelled
this out with a point two minutes
later. The next fifteen minutes
saw Glasdrumman increase their lead
with points from Mick Mooney, Cormac
Murphy and Raymond Magorrian. In
the last ten minutes Downpatrick
fought back well and despite sterling
work by the Glasdrumman defence
they were rewarded with points from
Kyran Smith, Danny Carvill and M
McGarrity to leave only two points
between the sides. However Glasdrumman
drew last blood with a point from
Cormac Murphy to leave the final
score Glasdrumman 0-10 Downpatrick
0-7.
