The 2005 season got of to a
successful start in near perfect
conditions at the Quarter Road on
Sunday afternoon with the visit of
Aghaderg as Glasdrumman took the two
points after a hard fought match.
The first ten minutes were totally
dominated by Glasdrumman but
despite their dominance they only
had two points to show for their
efforts, the first after five
minutes from the boot of full
forward Raymond Clarke followed
three minutes later by a point from
a free by Raymond Magorrian.
Aghaderg clawed their way back into
the game with two points within
three minutes and went ahead with a
well taken goal in the thirteenth
minute from corner forward Kevin
Faloon who was proving a handful for
the Glasdrumman defence. They
further stretched their lead four
minutes later with another point
before Cormac Murphy pulled one back
for Glasdrumman. Kevin Faloon and
Raymond Magorrian exchanged points
to leave the halftime score
Glasdrumman 0-4 Aghaderg 1-4.
Aghaderg were first to register in
the second half with a Rory Simpson
point after five minutes to leave
four points between the sides. The
switch of Mark Trimble to mark Kevin
Faloon proved to be decisive as
Aghaderg were forced to change a
game plan which had worked
successfully for them in the first
half. Slowly Glasdrumman started to
assert their dominance with two
unanswered points from Cormac Murphy
and one each from Raymond Clarke and
Paul Brennan to level the game with
fifteen minutes on the clock. Rory
Simpson restored a one point lead in
the nineteenth minute for Aghaderg
but their lead was short lived as
Cormac Murphy showed his class with
two excellent points to put
Glasdrumman ahead for the first time
since the twelfth minute of the
first half. The last six minutes
belonged to Glasdrumman as Raymond
Magorrian further stretched their
lead with a point in the twenty
eighth minute before Cormac Murphy
scored a superbly taken goal to seal
the points for Glasdrumman after a
tense and hard fought match. Final
