U-16 Football League
Tullylish 3-5 Glasdrumman 1-11
The U-16s travelled to Tullylish on
Tuesday night to play their second
game of the league. Glasdrumman
started brightly with two points
from Paul McCaffrey and Connaire
Harrison. However, through some
very sloppy defensive work Tullylish
scored two soft goals in a matter of
minutes. The rest of the first half
saw Glasdrumman take control,
dominating in all areas of the
field. They scored three
consecutive points form James Mc
Dowell(1) and Connaire Harrison
(2). Dale Grant made an immediate
impact coming on as substitute and
getting a free kick which Connaire
Harrison converted. Tullylish led
by a single point at half-time. (2-0
to 0-5)
In the second half, despite the bad
conditions, both teams played well
in what was a more evenly fought
contest. Eddie Conway made a couple
of mesmerising solo runs which
resulted in a few Glasdrumman scores
from the boot of Stefan McGuinness.
Paul Grant caught a few good balls
and tackled hard throughout. Ryan
Doran, Darren Joyce and Gavin
McCracken came more into the game
and led by example with some good
blocking and passing.
The Glasdrumman defence went to
sleep for a few minutes in the
second half and again conceded a
goal after quick thinking from the
Tullylish free-kick taker caught
them off-guard. Despite this,
Glasdrumman fought back well and
snatched a dramatic late equaliser
with another point from Connaire
Harrison and great effort from the
boot of Stefan McGuinness in the
dying minutes for a deserved draw.
