Friday night’s
opposition at the Quarter Road were
Drumaness fresh from a win at home
to Glenn and a narrow defeat away to
Aghaderg. Glasdrumman drew first
blood and were two points up after
three minutes with scores from
Raymond Clarke and Cormac Murphy.
Drumaness were back on level terms
within three minutes with points
from Conor Walsh and Tony Ferris.
However Glasdrumman started to stamp
their superiority on the game and
they were rewarded with points from
Raymond Magorrian, Cormac Murphy and
Martin O’Neill
after seven, nine and eleven minutes
respectively. Conor Walsh slotted
over a point from a free in the
twelfth minute before Declan Grant
rose on the edge of the square to
fist a high dropping ball over the
bar in the sixteenth minute to
further extend the Glasdrumman lead.
Mark Trimble got his name on the
score sheet in the twenty first
minute with a point. Then disaster
struck for Drumaness as full forward
Raymond Clarke slipped his marker
and hit a beautiful shot low and
hard into the corner of the net.
Glasdrumman now had their tails up
and they added a point from Raymond
Magorrian and two goals and a point
from Cormac Murphy before half time.
Conor Walsh pulled a point back for
Drumaness to leave the halftime
score Glasdrumman 3-9 Drumaness 0-4.
Conor Walsh got the first point of
the second half after four minutes
for Drumaness which Mark Trimble
cancelled out a minute later with a
similar score. Martin Savage and
Mark Trimble exchanged points in the
seventh and ninth minutes
respectively. Martin Savage got his
name on the score sheet again six
minutes later but this was quickly
answered by a similar score from
Cormac Murphy. Two minutes later
Raymond Clarke again found the
Drumaness net for his second goal of
the game following a good save from
the Drumaness goalkeeper. Conor
Walsh again hit the target with a
well taken point in the twentieth
minute but two minutes later Sean
McDowell got his first point of the
game to extend the Glasdrumman lead.
Three minutes later Drumaness were
awarded a penalty. Up stepped Willie
Megoran only to see his shot tipped
over the bar by the Glasdrumman net
minder Ronan McDowell. Sean McDowell
added his second point of the game a
minute later from an acute angle on
the left wing before a foul on the
Drumaness full forward resulted in
their second penalty of the game.
This time Martin Savage made no
mistake with the penalty spot.
Inspired by this Drumaness added a
further three unanswered points ,
two from their top scorer Conor
Walsh and one from Willie Megoran to
leave the full time score
Glasdrumman 4-14 Drumaness 1-12.
