Glasdrumman get
back to winning ways
On Friday night
Glasdrumman made the journey to play
Teconnaught with the memory of
their last visit there when they
were made to fight tooth and nail to
get the points they needed to secure
their place in the Division 3 top
three playoffs and they knew that
despite Teconnaught’s poor results
this season that they would be made
to do the same on this visit. The
game started well for Glasdrumman
and they were three points up after
ten minutes with scores from Raymond
Magorrian, Cormac Murphy and Declan
Grant. Six minutes later Cormac
Murphy found the Teconnaught net and
within a minute had added a further
point. This was quickly followed by
a second point from Raymond
Magorrian to leave Glasdrumman with
an eight point lead. By now the
heavens had opened with a vengeance
and the mistakes started to creep
into the Glasdrumman defence which
were punished severely with five
unanswered points mostly from frees
in a six minute spell for
Teconnaught. Raymond Clarke steadied
the Glasdrumman ship with a point
right at the end of the half to
leave the halftime score Teconnaught
0-5 Glasdrumman 1-6.
Teconnaught
pulled another point back if the
first minute of the half but
Glasdrumman quickly responded with a
point from Sean McDowell. A minute
later the ball was in the
Teconnaught net when Raymond
Magorrian’s speculative shot
deceived the Teconnaught goalkeeper
and the same player added another
point almost immediately. This was
quickly followed by another point
from a free from Cormac Murphy to
establish a nine point cushion with
just over ten minutes to go. Then
disaster struck when a long range
ended up in the Glasdrumman net
following a misunderstanding between
the defence and goalkeeper. This was
quickly followed by a well taken
second goal for Teconnaught who now
started to believe that they could
win the match and they added two
more points in quick succession to
leave a single point between the
sides. Glasdrumman were forced to
dig deep and Raymond Magorrian
slotted over a point to relieve the
pressure and to leave a two point
winning margin for Glasdrumman.
