John Brennan
Glasdrumman
booked their place in the quarter
final of the Intermediate
championship and a plum draw against
neighbours Attical when they
defeated Bosco in Rostrevor on
Tuesday evening. Despite Glasdrumman
starting with a flourish it was
Bosco who recorded the first point
after six minutes. Two minutes later
the game was all square when Cormac
Murphy pointed but a minute later
Bosco restored their lead. Then came
the move of the match when full back
Francis O’Neill started a five pass
sequence which ended with Cormac
Murphy hitting the back of the Bosco
net. Glasdrumman quickly added three
points without reply through Declan
Grant, Martin O’Neill and Cormac
Murphy as Bosco were left reeling
from the earlier goal but they
gathered themselves together
responding with three unanswered
points in three minutes. However it
was Glasdrumman who ended the half
the stronger with points from Cormac
Murphy, Raymond Clarke and Connaire
Harrison to leave the halftime score
Glasdrumman 1-7 Bosco 0-5.
Declan Grant
opened the scoring in the second
half after five minutes for
Glasdrumman before a brace of points
from Bosco cut the Glasdrumman lead.
However Cormac Murphy restored their
lead in the thirteenth minute. Again
Bosco cut the lead and again Martin
O’Neill restored it with a well
taken point. The last ten minutes
were rather frantic for Glasdrumman
as Bosco gathered every broken ball
around midfield and put the
Glasdrumman defence under incessant
pressure but, despite several goal
chances, their reward was a mere two
points to leave the final score
Glasdrumman 1-10 Bosco 0-10.
This was a
game which Glasdrumman always looked
like winning but they will have to
improve on their performance when
they take on Attical on Friday night
in Ballymartin.
