John Brennan
Friday night’s visit to Kilclief
proved just as difficult as it has
been on the many occasions when the
senior team has made the journey in
past seasons. Following a few
missed Glasdrumman chances Kilclief
opened the scoring after seven
minutes but Glasdrumman hit back
quickly when Connaire Harrison
pointed. Kilclief responded almost
immediately with a point followed a
couple of minutes later by a goal
when the ball was scooped up and
dropped agoniously over the head of
the advancing Ronan McDowell into
the Glasdrumman net. Points from
Cormac Murphy and Raymond Magorrian
eased Glasdrumman back into the game
but three unanswered points from
Kilclief put them firmly back in the
driving seat. Then almost on half
time disaster struck for a second
time. A high dropping ball coming
out of the line of the sun deceived
the backs and ended up in the
Glasdrumman net to leave the
halftime score Kilclief 2-5
Glasdrumman 0-3.
Kilclief opened the scoring seven
minutes into the second half with a
point after some very wasteful
shooting. Glasdrumman responded
within a minute when Cormac Murphy
pointed but Kilclief were in no mood
to relinquish their grip on the
game. Four unanswered points in a
seventeen minute spell of dominance
put the game beyond Glasdrumman’s
grasp but the fought to the end and
were rewarded with points from
Connaire Harrison and substitute
Shane Feeney to leave the final
score Kilclief 2-10 Glasdrumman 0-6.
