Glasdrumman find the going tough in
Saval
Following on the heels of their
victory over Glenn earlier in the
week Glasdrumman came back down to
earth with a bump when they
travelled to Saval on Friday night.
Playing against a strong wind,
Glasdrumman were slow to start, as
in their earlier matches this
season, with their first score
coming after seventeen minutes when
Raymond Magorrian pointed after
Saval had gone into a five point
lead with scores in the second,
ninth, tenth, twelfth and sixteenth
minutes. Raymond Magorrian added
his and Glasdrumman’s second point a
minute later but Saval hit back with
two points almost immediately to
restore their five point lead.
Glasdrumman responded with a point
from Cormac Murphy after twenty five
minutes followed a minute later by a
Connaire Harrison point with the
last score of the half falling to
Saval to leave the halftime score
Saval 0-8 Glasdrumman 0-4. Martin
O’Neill further cut the Saval lead
with a sixth minute point but then
disaster struck when a speculative
Saval shot came back off the
woodwork into the path of an
inrushing Saval forward who punched
the ball to the Glasdrumman net.
Spurred on by this score Saval added
a point a minute later before Martin
O’Neill reduced the defecit with a
point from a forty five. Again Saval
responded with a quick point
followed almost immediately by their
second goal of the game and another
point which effectively put the game
beyond the grasp of Glasdrumman. Not
to be outdone Glasdrumman added a
further four points without reply
through Martin O’Neill after
nineteen minutes, Raymond Magorrian
after twenty one minutes, and two
from Cormac Murphy after twenty
three and twenty five minutes before
Saval got the final score of the
game with a twenty sixth minute
point to leave the final score Saval
2-12 Glasdrumman 0-10.
