FIGHTING DRAW FOR GLASDRUMMAN AND ATTICALL MINORS - Glasdrumman 0-12 Atticall 1-9
Glasdrumman played hosts to Atticall
last Wednesday evening determined to
repeat the result of the previous
week.
Indeed
they got off to a flying start, and
with two points from Connaire
Harrison and one from James McDowell,
they were three points ahead by the
fifth minute. Despite the start,
Atticall steadied themselves and
replied with a point in the twelfth
minute. Ryan Clerkin scored a good
point a minute later to keep
Glasdrumman three ahead but Atticall
then scored two points followed by a
goal from Matthew Toner over the next
ten minutes to put Atticall ahead by
two. Connaire Harrison replied with
another point to bring the deficit
back to one. Shane Harrison then made
a point blank save with four minutes
remaining in the half to keep
Glasdrumman in touch. Atticall put
over another two points to leave the
half time score Glasdrumman 0-5
Atticall 1-5.
It was
a very determined Glasdrumman side who
took to the field in the second half,
and Connaire Harrison scored a point
within five minutes of the restart.
Atticall replied with a point in the
forty second minute to increase their
lead again but points from Martin
McGrath and Ryan Doran narrowed the
deficit again to one in the forty
sixth minute. Atticall scored another
a minute later but two superb points
in two minutes from Connaire Harrison
from the right hand side brought the
scores level. Atticall replied with a
point, but again Glasdrumman lifted
themselves and a point each from James
McDowell and Connaire Harrison put
Glasdrumman ahead by one point with
four minutes to play. Glasdrumman kept
pushing forward but were unfortunate
when Atticall were awarded a free kick
from which they scored a final point
with only a minute to go. The game
finished with the score Glasdrumman
0-12 Atticall 1-9.
Glasdrumman can take a lot of
positives from this game, the whole
team showing a lot of determination to
continually pull back throughout the
sixty minutes. A draw was probably a
fair result as neither team deserved
to lose what turned out to be a very
entertaining game played in a very
sporting manner.
