Rostrevor was the setting for
this Division 2 relegation play-off
game between Glasdrumman and Warrenpoint
on Sunday afternoon.
As in the first game, Warrenpoint
started the stronger and were
five points ahead before Connaire
Harrison scored Glasdrumman's
first point in the fourteenth
minute. Warrenpoint were on top
and they scored their sixth point
after sixteen minutes and only
for a superb point blank save
from Ronan McDowell a minute later
they would have been even more
so. The save apeared to give Glasdrumman
a temporary lift as they began
to settle and create some good
scoring chances but only Connaire
Harrison's second point of the
game on twenty minutes went between
the posts. With Glasdrumman missing
their chances, Warenpoint came
back strongly again and scored
two further points to stretch
their lead before they snatched
a well taken goal in injury time
to leave the half time score Glasdrumman
0-2 Warrenpoint 1-8.
Glasdrumman started stronger in
the second half but it was Warrenpoint
who scored first with a point
from a free after thirty four
minutes. Cormac Murphy replied
with two points, one from a free
to narrow the gap four minutes
later. Warrenpoint were anxious
to finish the game off as soon
as possible and pushed forward
strongly. Ronan McDowell made
another brilliant save to deny
Warrenpoint on forty minutes but
the tide was relentless and he
could do little but watch as Warrenpoint
scored another two points before
Connaire Harrison scored his third
point of the game on forty seven
minutes. Warrenpoint closed the
game off with another four points
before Cormac Murphy finished
the game with two points to leave
the final score Glasdrumman 0-7
