Glenn hosted Glasdrumman looking
to improve their season to date
and upturn the formbook against
the table toppers.
They started well and had three
points on the board inside the
first five minutes with Glasdrumman's
only reply a point from Cormac
Murphy. It looked as though Glasdrumman
were going to take control of
the game when further points from
Raymond Clarke and Cormac Murphy
levelled the game after twelve
minutes but Glenn totally caught
Glasrumman cold when they had
the ball in the Glasdrumman net
twice in the space of two minutes,
followed quickly by a point to
put them seemingly well in control
and seven points to the good with
ten minutes to half time. Glasdrumman
had two chances on goal but were
denied brilliantly by Michael
Doran in the Glenn goals. They
did begin to claw there way back
into the game with points from
Shaun Brennan, Cormac Murphy and
Raymond Magorrian to reduce the
gap to four. Glenn increased their
lead with another point from David
Bagnall, but points from Cormac
Murphy and Raymond Magorrian in
the final minutes of the half
sent the teams in at half time
with the score Glenn 2-5 Glasdrumman
0-8.
Any thoughts Glasdrumman had of
a swift reply in the second half
were dashed when Glenn's Mark
Lennon smashed the ball past Ronan
McDowell for a goal to put Glenn
six points ahead with only four
minutes played in the half. Glasdrumman
replied within two minutes with
another point from Cormac Murphy.
It looked as though it was not
going to be Glasdrumman's night
as Glenn's Michael Doran continued
to deny any goal chances coming
his way. However, Glasdrumman
kept their cool and slowly ate
away at Glenn's lead. Cormac Murphy
pointed a free kick which was
followed by three further points
from free kicks by Connaire Harrison
to leave only one point between
the teams with twelve minutes
remaining. Connaire Harrison's
fourth point left the teams level
as they headed into the final
ten minutes with nerves jangling
on both sides. With both teams
having their chances to go ahead
it was a pointed free kick from
Cormac Murphy which edged Glasdrumman
ahead for the first time in the
game with five minutes to play.
A nervous five minutes ensued
with both teams missing good chances
before Connaire Harrison slotted
over the final score of the game
well into added time to leave
the final score Glenn 3-5 Glasdrumman
0-16.
An edgy game from Glasdrumman
who will no doubt be very happy
to come away with the points.
