OFF TARGET GLASDRUMMAN LOSE OUT
TO ARDGLASS
Glasdrumman 0-8 Ardglass 0-9
Friday night's visitors to the
Quarter Road were Ardglass, who
were chasing hard on the heels
of table topping Glasdrumman.
Glasdrumman were a point to the
good within five minutes of the
throw in from Raymond Clarke,
but Ardglass steadied themselves
quickly and went ahead with two
points in the next five minutes.
Raymond Magorrian pointed a free
kick on seventeen minutes to level
the game but again it was Ardglass
who went ahead with another point
from play with six minutes to
half time. Cormac Murphy levelled
the game again on the stroke of
half time with his first point
from a free kick to leave the
half time scores in a somewhat
scrappy game at
Glasdrumman 0-3 Ardglass 0-3.
The second half started with Glasdrumman
playing good football and, with
Ardglass looking as if they were
still in the changing rooms, they
raced into a four point lead within
four minutes of the restart with
two points from Raymond Magorrian
and points apiece for Cormac Murphy
and James McDowell. Despite a
four point lead at this early
stage of the second half, Glasdrumman
could not finish the game off
and helped by some uncharacteristic
poor finishing, Ardglass were
allowed back into the game. Four
points from Ardglass without reply
in a fifteen minute spell levelled
the game with eight minutes remaining.
Ardglass sensed victory and poured
forward and when they went a point
ahead with only four minutes to
go, the Glasdrumman support were
speachless. Raymond Magorrian
sent over a free kick immediately
for Glasdrumman to level the game
again, but Ardglass continued
forward and were rewarded with
the final point of the game in
added time to leave the final
score Glasdrumman 0-8 Ardglass
0-9.
This was clearly a game Glasdrumman
should have had in the bag as
they dominated the game for long
periods, but with a total of ten
wides in each half they were punished
by Ardglass who were more efficient
with their scores when given their
chances.
