Glasdrumman were the hosts on
Monday evening for this league
which unsurprisingly went totally
by the form book.
However, it was St. Michael's
who opened the scoring with a
point from Neil Sweeney in the
second minute, but this served
only as a wake up call to Glasdrumman
replied immediately with a point
from Raymond Magorrian. Connaire
Harrison gave the visitors a little
of what more was to come when
he scored the opening goal of
the game in the sixth minute.
Cormac Murphy and Raymond Magorrian
added points apiece before Glasdrumman
were awarded a penalty which was
coolly dispatched to the net by
Cormac Murphy to increase Glasdrumman's
lead to eight points with twelve
minutes on the clock. Cormac Murphy
and Connaire Harrison added points
from free kicks before St. Michael's
scored their second point of the
game through Bryan Sweeney. Mark
Trimble rounded off the first
half with a well taken point to
leave the half time score Glasdrumman
2-6 St. Michael's 0-2.
Glasdrumman did not let up in
the second half and quickly added
to their lead with a point from
Connaire Harrison and two from
Cormac Murphy. The door was firmly
shut for St. Michael's when Cormac
Murphy added his second and Glasdrumman's
third goal within seven minutes
of the restart. Not to be outdone,
Connaire Harrison also added his
second goal of the evening three
minutes later to leave Glasdrumman
out of sight with a nineteen point
lead with twenty minutes still
to play. Cormac Murphy added a
further point from a free kick
and Raymond Magorrian added his
third of the game before St. Michael's
Gavin Gowdy scored a point for
the visitors. Raymond Magorrian
and Conaire Harrison added points
for Glasdrumman and Philip Quinn
scored for St. Michael's before
Glasrumman made a number of substitutions
with the Intermediate Championship
Quarter Final in mind. St. Michael's
added a goal with five minutes
remaining, Andrew McKeown with
a good run and finish, only for
James McDoweel to complete the
scoring with a point in the last
minute to leave the final score
Glasdrumman 4-14 St. Michael's
1-4.
This was another good team performance
from Glasdrumman, ading confidence
going into their Intermediate
Championship Quarter Final against
Second Division Warrenpoint. Sean
Cunningham had a good game in
goals, and was well protected
by the full back line of Frank
O'Neill, Pat Mallon and Ryan Doran.
The half backs Martin O'Neill,
Art McCartan and Mark Trimble
controlled the middle of the field
with midfielders Colm Gribben
and Declan Grant. Thr half forward
line of James McDowell, Cormac
Murphy and Colum Carr also picked
up a lot of loose ball and contributed
to the scoreline. The full forward
line of Raymond Magorrian, Sean
McDowell and Connaire Harrison
linked up well with the half forward
line and took their scores when
presented with the opportunities.
The substitutes also played their
part in what was a good all round
performance.
