A brave minor side were beaten by a physically bigger
and stronger Teconnaught side on Thursday
night. Despite the margin of defeat
the very young Kilclief side acquitted
themselves very well. Influential midfielder
Ricky Kerr had to play in goal due to
injury and his presence was missed out
on the park. Caolan Sloan (1-2) and
Owen Curran (1-0) were Kilclief's scorers
on the night.
Dean Fitzsimons
and Aidan McCann were the pick of the
defenders with telling interceptions
and close marking. Mick O'Boyle went
into goal for the second half and pulled
off three stunning saves. Up front Sean
O'Reilly had his best game in a Kilclief
shirt to date although he faded in the
second half.
Nathan McMullen,
Ryan Curran and Sean Quail all showed
well despite limited supply. Results
wise the season has not been great but
there are many positives to take for
next year. The side is only losing 3
players and with more commitment from
players who were absent this year there
is no reason why the team can't be challenging
for honours.
