It’s back to business as
usual following the holiday break
but for some teams the break hasn’t
been good to them. The seniors where
at Burren on Friday night following
last weeks defeat at home to Rostrevor.
The seconds have played two games
in six days, at home to Burren followed
by an away match at league leaders
Mayobridge. The thirds to have been
busy. They travelled to Newry Shamrocks
and then hosted Longstone at the
weekend. The U12’s continued
their league play off when they
played Bryansford.
• The seniors continued their
build up to the championship when
they travelled to Burren on Friday
night hoping to bounce back from
their defeat to Rostrevor a week
earlier. I a very close and hard
fought match they went in at half
time leading by two points. However,
Burren never looked like given up
and began to fight back. In the
end both teams had to settle for
a draw and with the championship
just next week they will be happy
enough.
• The seconds have had an
up and down week. Earlier in the
week the played host to Burren and
in a game that they dominated from
start to finish eventually ran out
winners on a score line of 3-8 to
0-7. They then travelled to the
current League leaders Mayobridge.
Knowing that a win would but them
within a point of the hosts it was
vital that they got the win. However
they where unable to get to grips
with the bridge attack and in the
end they lost by eight.
• The thirds season continues
to one of struggle. Early in the
week they travelled to Newry Shamrocks
hoping to pick up the points and
assure themselves of their second
division position for next year.
Things were looking good for them
early on, at half time they were
leading by four points, but like
on a number of occasions this season
they were unable to carry their
first half performances through
and in the end lost 1-10 to 1-08.
On Sunday they played host to Longstone
and where well in contention at
half time. Thanks to some well taken
scores and a goal from Patrick Grant
they lead by a single point. However
an early Longstone goal in the second
half but them on the back foot and
they never recovered.
• The U12’s where the
only other team inaction this week
when they took on Bryansford on
Sunday in the Park. Like on so many
occasions before they produced what
has become a typical performance
for them as they comfortably won
thanks to good performances from
Cillian Laverty, Darragh O’Hanlon,
Jerome Johnston and Ryan Mussen.
