It may be the end of season time
but once again the club is still
fighting for honours.
• The club would like to
wish the Seniors the very best of
luck after reaching the final of
the League on Saturday. Playing
against Liatriom in Castlewellan
this turned out to a hard fought
match which started well with Conor
Laverty pointing early on. As the
game went on Kilcoo showed some
good skilful one touch football
which Liatriom struggled to coup
with. However, the scores weren’t
coming, and as they began to give
away frees Liatroim crawled their
way back in to the match.
Mid way through the first half
came the stroke of luck they deserved,
following a scramble in the Liatriom
goal mouth the ball some how found
its way to the back of the net,
and just before half time Anthony
Devlin popped up to score a second
goal after some good build up. The
free tally was still mounting and
Liatriom kept plugging away and
went in at half–time trailing
by four points.
The second half proved to be very
scrappy as Liam Doyle and Aiden
O’Prey kept punishing Kilcoo
for their fouls and with just seconds
left on the clock they levelled
the match for the first time. However
the magpies weren’t done and
with three minutes of injury time
gone it was left to Conor Laverty
to send over the winning point from
a very tight angle to send the seniors
in to the final and a match against
either Burren or Mayobridge.
