Liatroim Camogies claim 2003 senior title - 27/07/2003

Senior Final: Liatroim 3-17 Clonduff 2-01
Once again the those seasoned campaigners from
Liatroim claim the County senior title defeating Clonduff in the final. The game
was played at a fast and furious pace and Clonduff were the first to score - a
goal from a long range free by Moya Maginn ended in the back of the net. However,
Liatroim failed to panic and pegged away at the points mainly from frees conceded
by Clonduff and converted by Máirín McAleenan.
The
half time score was Clonduff 1-0 Liatroim 0-6.
Clonduff
tried very hard in the second half but things just did not go their way - it was
Liatroim, and in particular, Máirín McAleenan, who called the tune and ran away
with the game.
They scored 3-11 in
the second half whilst Clonduff could only manage 1-1. The goal was finished to
the net by Karen Gribben and the point was a free scored by Fionnuala Carr.
