Bredagh and Liatriom are winners
in Irish News GAA Ulster Club Awards 09/05/2003
Bredagh GAC have won a £750 Development
Package cheque from the Irish News for being highly-recommended
in City Club section of the newspaper's inaugural
club awards scheme while Liatriom were highly-recommended
in the Rural Club section.
Hundreds of clubs throughout Ulster
entered the competition. In the City section Bredagh
were in competition with clubs from Belfast, Armagh,
Newry and Derry, yet the Bredagh club were one of
only two clubs honoured in this section at the ceremony,
Ardoyne Kickhams being the winner. This is a remarkable
achievement for a club without a base and is a tribute
to the members at all levels who unselfishly give
of their time. Chairman Nicky McCafferty collected
the cheque and praised all parts of the club, from
the girls to the hurlers and from the underage boys
to the senior men.
Liatriom Fontenoys were also highly
recommended in the Rural section with Ardboe Co tyrone
winning the section.
