Senior Football Championship: Liatroim 0-11 Warrenpoint 0-09
On Tuesday night 19th August, Liatroim over came Warrenpoint
at the Mayobridge as they booked their place in the quarter-finals of the SFC
and a quarter-final clash with Castlewellan when they defeated a game Warrenpoint
side on a scoreline of 0-11 to 0-9.
This was a hard-earned
win for the Liatroim side whose winning scores came in the final two minutes of
the tie from Patrick Pearse McCartan and Down senior star, Liam Doyle. There was
very little between two well-matches sides in the opening half, and at the break
Warrenpoint were ahead by a point - 0-5 to 0-4.
This trend
continued for the remainder of the second-half and it was only that late scoring
flourish from McCartan and Doyle that gave Liatroim a close but deserved win.
