Liatroim fall to Armagh champs in opening game - 13/08/2003

Club 1st Round: Liatroim 2-07 Crossmaglen 2-09
An experienced Liatroim side were narrowly defeated
in the first round of the Ulster Club Championship on Sunday past by Armagh Champions
Crossmaglen.
Liatroim dominanted the
opening period of the game but their failure to make their domance count on the
score board dualy cost them the game. Cross ran into an early lead, but by the
14th minute the Down champions had equaliesed, with Janine Kelly scoring Liatroims
first goal. The sides remained level at 1-03 a piece until the 10th minute in
the second half.
Liatroim seamed to
have lifted their game in the second half and put their poor shooting of the first
half behind them. Liatroim ran into a four point lead with a second goal from
Mairin McAleenan. With minutes remaining Crossmaglen snatched victory with a late
goal.
