Mayobridge v Ardara in Ulster Club Championship 06/11/2004
A Ardara are expected to be without the Byrne brothers Kevin and Seamus for their contest against Mayobridge at Ballybofey.

Earlier this week, the two fishermen were reported to be definitely unavailable because of work commitments although there have been suggestions that they might yet line out for the Donegal championships.

Irrespective of the Byrnes' availability, Ardara can still can on quality players in county men Damien Diver, Brendan Boyle and Eamon Doherty.

Mayobridge will be spearheaded by Down and Ireland star Benny Coulter while other key 'Bridge players include Francie Poland, Declan Rooney, Eoghan Woods, Aidan Barry and evergreen Mickey Linden.

Injuries to Michael Walsh and Ronan Sexton have meant an upexpected extended run in the starting line-up for player-boss Linden this year and he will again start in the full-forward line on Sunday.

Mayobridge supreme in Down 10/10/2004
Benny Coulter scored two of Mayobridge's four goals
Mayobridge were crowned Down football champions for the third time in four years with a convincing 4-12 to 0-08 win over rank outsiders Annaclone.
Man-of-the-match Benny Coulter scored two goals with the others coming from Aidie Barry and Paul Cunningham.
Annaclone, appearing in their first county final for 50 years, looked nervous and never seemed capable of causing a huge upset.
Mayobridge got their first goal after just three minutes.
Left half-forward Barry cut in a saw his speculative lob bounce in front of the keeper who then let the ball slip through his hands.

South Down U12 League Final: Ballyholland 5-02 Mayobridge 1.05

The two U12 unbeaten team meet 29/06/2003
UNDER 12's Mayobridge 4.5 Burren 2.2
The only two unbeaten teams in their section of the south Down League, Mayobridge and Burren met at the Bridge on Saturday afternoon and after an exciting game of football, it was the young Sky Blues who emerged victorious; winning 4.5 to 2.2. In the first half it was Burren who looked the more likely side and they went in at the break leading 1.2 to 0.2.
On the restart the Bridge selectors made a few positional changes and these had the desired effect. Helped by a hat trick of goals from corner forward Padraig Gribben the Bridge forged ahead and when the final whistle sounded, nine points separated the sides. Both sides deserve great credit for the entertainment served up and the skills and enthusiasm displayed would have put many a senior side to shame.

Bridge U12's keep up winning ways against the point 11/06/2003
Mayobridge U-12 team kept their unbeaten record when they visited Warrenpoint and won with more than a bit to spare. The first half was a well-contested affair and only six points separated the sides at the break, the scoreboard reading 4 -1 to 2 -1 in favour of the winners. In the second half the 'Bridge took over completely and ran out convincing winners.

Bridge Thirds overcome the kingdom 07/06/2003
Thirds: Mayobridge 1.8 An Riocht 0.10
Mayobridge Thirds were very fortunate to gain two league points on last Monday evening after a very mediocre performance in which they squandered many chances, and it took a Niall Kennedy point in the 61 st minute to secure victory. An Riocht will rue the large number of wides they kicked over the sixty minutes.

Mitchel's edge out the Bridge 27/05/2003
South Down Reserve League: Mitchels 2.13 Mayobridge 3.08
Mayobridge Thirds and Newry Mitchel's produced an exciting game at Gerry Brown Park on Sunday evening in the South Down Reserve League with the Newry men just edging out the Bridge on a scoreline of 2.13 to 3.8. The Sky Blues mi ssed some very good scoring opportunities, which proved to be their undoing.
The teams were level at the break; the scoreboard reading 3.3 to 2.6 and in the second half play was very even but the Mitchels got their noses in front and held out for victory.

Mayobridge back on winning ways 03/05/2003
The Mayobridge senior team got back on the winning trail with a victory over Bryansford at Newcastle last night. A powerful second half display saw the Sky Blues victorious on a scoreline of 1 -13 to 0-5 with Adrian Barry getting the goal. On Thursday night the bridge Under 16's Trecorded a big win over Attical. The 'Bridge were virtually in control from start to finish and finished up very comfortable winners, 6-13 to 2-5. On Wednesday, the bridge U-14 footballers entertained Ballyholland in the league and after a poor first half display, which saw them trailing by 14 points at one stage, the young Sky Blues staged a remarkable second half recovery to almost snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. Ballyholland held out for victory by 4 -11 to 4-8.

Ardglass Girls defeat the Bridge 11/06/2003
On Sunday the U -16 girls' team played Ardglass in the Down championship and in conditions which were more reminiscent of November than June it was the East Down side who emerged victorious, 0-6 to 1 -1. Ardglass played with the wind and the rain in the first half and by half time had built up a five points lead, 0 -6 to 0 -1. On the restart, Ardglass continued to dominate but missed several good chances. The 'Bridge had trouble getting the ball up to their forwards but eventually they broke through for a goal but it came too late to have any influence on the final outcome.

Mayobridge U-16 Girls' make history 22/05/2003
A little piece of history was made at Mayobridge on Sunday (17/05/2003) when the U -16 girls' football side played their first competitive game. Their league opponents, Ballymartin, proved too strong, however, and ran out convincing winners. Nevertheless, the 'Bridge girls can be well satisfied with their efforts as they kept toiling right to the end.

A whos who in INTO Girls Sevens Final 14/05/2003
The annual County Down INTO Girls Seven football finals were held in St Patricks park Newcastle last Tuesday with Carrick PS Burren defeating Mayobridge in the final 2-03 to 1-00. Looking at the two team sheets was a who's who in Gaelic football in Down, with names such as Linden, McGoveren, O'Hare, Fegan and Murdock all to be found. Carrick will represent Co Down in the regional finals to take place in Louth later this month, and we may well see some of these girls playing in Croke Park later this year.

Mayobridge Ladies U13 make history 02/03/2003
History was made today Sunday 2nd March when Mayobridge Ladies under-13 football team took on neighbours Rostrevor. Mayobridge has always been to the forefront when it comes to the GAA activities, and although we’re late in entering the ladies football scene, they will be hoping they can follow the men to the top in Down GAA.

Coulter sets up irelands second goal 31/10/2003
Ireland scored only two goals in the second test - both goals coming in the opening stages of the game. Ireland created two goal chances before a long ball in from Padraig Joyce was fisted to the net by Armagh's McDonnell amongst a clatter of Australian bodies and immediately a soccer style cross from Benny Coulter was collected by Beano who rounded his man and finished to the net for goal number two. At the end of the first quarter Ireland led 22-4.
