Ardara Draw in Ulster

A Benny Coulter point in the dying
embers of injury time gave Mayobridge
a fortunate draw against Ardara in
the Ulster Club SFC quarter-final
clash.
The Donegal champions
looked set for a shock result when
Coulter struck to save the Down kingpins.
Both sides were level
0-06 at half-time but Mayobridge took
the lead on the restart with a goal
by John Quinn.
But Ardara hit back
when Peter McHugh hit the net and
held a point advantage until Coulter
struck the equaliser.
Mayobridge's player-manager
Mickey Linden thought that his side
were on their way out as they game
moved into the third minute of injury
time.
''It certainly looked
if we were going to be knocked out
in the last few minutes,'' said the
41-year-old veteran.
''But we held it
together to get the point we needed
for the draw. I was very pleased with
the outcome. Ardara are a very tough
side.
''They played the
ball around well and give little away
and we struggled. I was not surprised
by them. We knew they were a good
side.
''Benny received
a bang on the back and we put him
up front on one leg. But he banged
the ball over and we live to fight
another day.''
The replay will take
place next Sunday with a 11430 GMT
start.
