NAILBITING END TO QUIZ FOR ‘BRIDGE
BOYS
Warrenpoint Town Hall was the setting
last Sunday night for the finals
of the GAA South Down Scór
na nÓg finals where after
a marathon quiz section which went
to seven sets of tie break questions,
Clonduff Hurling club representatives,
Rory McGreevy, Caíslín
Hynes and Mark Devlin emerged as
first winners of the night against
the unlucky Mayobridge trio of Cormac
Linden, Gareth Rooney and Seamus
McGeough.
The Bridge and the Clonduff Hurlers
representatives left the other two
teams well behind and going into
the last round of the quiz proper,
the ‘Bridge were ahead, but
one missed question for the ‘Blues’
allowed the ‘Yellas’
back in and in the marathon set
of tie breaks, it took seven sets
of extra questions to ensure victory
for Clonduff.

Cormac Linden, Seamus McGeough and
Gareth Rooney
The nail-biting finale of the quiz,
which started off the night’s
entertainment, was a portent to
the excitement of what lay ahead
for the next three and a half hours,
as dancers, singers and musicians
from South Down’s GAA Clubs
entertained the capacity audience.
The only other ‘Bridge entry
in the South Down final was our
Novelty act, Rory and Joe Duffy
with Dearbhla Begley performing
‘The Visitor’ a sketch
written by the boys’ mother
Finola.
For an eight, nine and six year
old to put on such a good performance
is a tribute not only to the children,
but also to Finola who took on the
task of writing and producing the
sketch at just a fortnight’s
notice.
Although they didn’t qualify
for this Sunday night’s final
in Saval, they put on a great performance
and have a bright future in the
years ahead.
