GAA: Kevin Kearney
is Mitchels Player of the Year
Kevin Kearney was voted the Newry
Mitchels’ Player of the
Year at the recent presentation
evening at the Carrickdale Hotel.
Manager Collie
Bell handed over the award to
the hard-working Kearney.
Meanwhile Brendan
McParland, who captained the Abbey
Corn na nOg and McMahon Cup teams,
and has been involved with Mitchels
all his life (as a treasurer and
manager to both senior and minor
teams) won the 2004 Hall of Fame
award for his dedicated services
to the club.
Other awards
went to: Brendan Murphy as the
Minor Player of the Year, and
Aaron Grant as the Most Improved
Minor.
Eamon Pollack
was voted the Most Improved Senior
player, Collie McKeown won the
Reserve Player of the Year award
while Myles Cole won the Gerry
Brown Endeavour award - presented
to him by the club chairman Harry
Cooney.
And at the end
of the presentations, Mitchels’
midfielder Shane Cooney, on behalf
of his father’s C.T.S. Express
firm, handed over a framed shirt
as a token of the firm’s
sponsorship of the club strip.
